Heavy Metal Subculture

Symbols

Fans of heavy metal music (metalheads, headbangers) created their own subculture. They feel members of this subculture by attending metal concerts, buying and listening to albums, growing long hair and wearing particular outfit.

What is a subculture?

Very often people who listen to metal don't wear associated with it clothes, don't grow long hair or don't go to concerts

Fashion

Music

Mainly: Skinny jeans (black or blue), leather jacket, hi-top basketball shoes, long hair

Additionally: Camouflage pants, boots, denim jackets, cut-off vests

Accesories: Patches with artists, spikes, pins, spike bands, chains, piercing, nacklaces and rings

Although there are debates among experts, most consider groups like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple to be the first heavy metal bands. From there the style evolved and branched into many different genres and subgenres.
