  • Before reading the draft ask your partner if there are particular aspects of the paper he/she wants you to focus on

  • Next, there should be two things that you do as you peer review
  • Annotating as you read
  • Write a note to the writer after you are done reading
  • Conferences are next!

  • Remember the date and time you signed up!

  • Rhetorical Analysis is DUE: TUESDAY, OCTOBER 30th
  • 8AM on BLACKBOARD

How to Review this Draft

  • Start with a summary that states what the paper is doing and what the main ideas are
  • Are any connections or ideas missing?

  • What are the overall strengths of this draft?

  • Does the draft follow the guidelines of the prompt?

  • Thesis and purpose. Paraphrase the thesis as a promise: In this project, the writer will. . . . Does the draft fulfill that promise? Why, or why not? Does it carry out the writer’s purposes?

  • Where does the writer stand?

  • Are the ideas presented in a way that will be easy for the audience to follow?

  • Are any sentences weak or confusing?

  • Are there transitions from one paragraph to the next? What about Topic Sentences?
