A member of the crew wrote about the expedition. He stated that Cordoba was very wealthy, and that it is unknown whether he was exploring new land or hunting for slaves.

The pilots of two other ships were Camacho de Triana and Joan Alvarez de Huelva, nicknamed "El Manquillo" which indicated that he was missing a limb.

Until February 20th, they followed the coast of "Isla of Fernandina" (Cuba) At the point of San Anton, they took to the open sea. According to one of the members, they faced 2 days of furious storms at open sea. The storms were supposedly strong enough to consilidate the doubt of the objective.

settlers in early Cuba, Cordoba petitioned to the governor for permission to launch an expedition in search of new lands and exploitable resources.

After 21 days of clear skies, they spotted land and solidly built buildings. They referred to it as "Cairo" in reference to the pyramids that were there.

February 8th 1517.

He reached the Yucatan in 21 days. There,

he encountered many battles with Indians, and much of his party was lost. There was a battle in almost every location he landed in.

After some hassles, they departed Cuba on February 8th, 1517, to explore the shores of southern Mexico. Many of his men were killed in battles with Mayans.
