LaMarcus Adna Thompson was born on March 8, 1848 in Jersey Ohio.
Thompson took interest in coasters. Thompson's Gravity Pleasure Switchback Railway opened at Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York. It was an instant success. He made 50 more in America and Europe and became a millionaire.Even though his roller coasters were a sucsess his atracctions {like many others } could only go 6 MPH .
He died on May 8th, 1919 in Glen Cove, New York. He had made the future for theme attraction. He had done his best before he died

More advanced coasters appeared, so Thompson and James A. Griffin thought a new idea. It's called the Scenic Railway
Hillside College
Thompson became a skilled carpenter at age 17. He got his degree at Hillside College in Michigan. He then worked in a wagon & carriage industry. Later he became a manufacture for women seamless hosiery and made a fortune.
