Oceans were made long before mankind oceans were made in two ways. One way was by metors that hit earth and let out its water flooding the ocean. The second way was by volcanos letting off steam that turned into clouds the clouds then rained for thousands of years. which then created our oceans. the ocean has 5 diffrent zones the Epipolegic zone, bathopalegic zone, Mesopelagic zone, Abyssal pelagic zone and the Hadapolegic zone. For our project we did the Abyssal pelagic zone. The Greeks named it Abyssal pelagic meaning "no bottom".

Animals in the deep ocean are unique. Because food is scarce in this zone most animals have large gaps to in jest any possible food. A great example of this is the deep-sea anglerfish. In many ways the deep sea is about eat or be eaten.

Other deep sea animals include the infamous giant squid, black swallower, tripod fish.

Backround

Layer description

  • The Abyssal layer is located in the very second to last layer of the ocean. That is right above the Hadapolagic and right below the Mesopelagic zone.
  • This zone is 13,100 ft deep and extends 19,700 ft down.
  • Three quarters of the ocean floor lays within this zone

Life

Light

In this zone of the ocean is no light. THe light from this zone does not reach this zone. Therefor fish in this zone have adapted to luministent features to provide light

Life in the Abyssal pelagic zone is not very easy. Due to human effects to this zone fish have a hard time. cabon that we despence go int the ocean making fishes food supplies scares. Therefor fishes must perserve their energy top survive so if you ever observe fish down there they will not move alot. The temp in this zone is around 35 degrees farenheight to 37 degrees ferinheight. There is nearly 3.5 % salinity in this zone.
