1.Okonkwo- The main character, son of Unoka
Conflict: Him vs. Father
2.Amalinze the Cat- The man that was defeated by Okonkwo
Conflict: Got defeated my Okonkwo
3.Unoka- Father of Okonkwo
Conflict: He had lots of debt that he owed a lot of people
4.Okoye- The neighbor of Unoka who had been owed money
Conflict: Wants money from Unoka and doesn't get it
5.Ikemefuna- Unknown visitor to the Umuofia village
Conflict: He was taken from original village during inner tribal wars
Main Events
1. Okonkwo defeated Amalinze the Cat, who was the greatest wrestler, and was undefeated for 7 years. Okonkwo beat him and is now the greatest out of 9 villages
2. Okonkwo's father, who he was not fond of (work ethic), had died 10 years ago, and it explained his hatred for his father
3. Because he was so well honored and wealthy, people of Umuofia respected him and bestowed Ikemefuna upon him

Purpose of The Elements
Purpose of Chapter 1:
It was about childhood of Okonkwo and how he grew up with a lackadaisical father. It also stated of how Okonkwo became a legendary figure within the Umuofia village because of his courageous demeanor.
