Environmental Impacts

The demand for coal became a known problem as there was a large increase in smog and air pollution from the burning of fossil fuels in steam engines. This led to severe health problems and a large amount of people left Britain and Europe in search of a better life. Although, not everyone made it out and over 4000 died due to the overwhelming soot in the air.

Long and shot term environmental effects

Unfortunately, the large amounts of greenhouse gases released during the Industrial Revolution were just the first of many, as today's cars still produce substantial amounts of pollution that does not fall under the clean air legislation.

What are the different industries from the industrial revolution?

Long and Short Term Effects of the Industrial Revolution

- Textiles/cotton - Banking

- Machinery - Mining technology

- Factories - Metal working industry

- Transportation

- Earth ware (glass, soap, etc)

The Impact on Australia

The impact on Children and education:

With the introduction of the first railway, Australia was able to transport goods at a much faster and cheaper rate. It also allowed for transport of people as apposed to using horses and camels which were slow, expensive and often fell prey to the punishing temperatures of the Australian outback.

The impact on Children was very major leading kids from the age of just 9 to be working and schooling at the same time. Schooling would take place for 2 hours, the jobs however would vary pending on age, 9-13 would work no more than 9 hours a day, whilst 14-18 were no more than 12 hours a day. These children have pretty much had their childhood ripped away from them.
