Paint horses are a unique breed just like Arabians and Quarter Horses. One characteristic of many Paint horses are their pinto coloration. However, the registry is based on bloodlines, not just color. Horses of Paint blood may be registered even if they have little or no white. Such horses are called Breeding Stock Paints.
So in conclusion, I chose this topic because I love horses. The other reason I chose this topic was because I get asked frequently what the difference between a Paint and a pinto is. Also, I find it frustrating when someone calls a horse a Paint when they really don't know what breed it is. So, I hope everyone who watched this presentation now understands what the difference is between a pinto and a Paint.
Basically, the main difference between a pinto and Paint is - pinto is a color and Paint is a breed. What that means, is that any breed can be a pinto. For example, a Miniature Horse could have pinto coloring. Also a Paint can have pinto coloring. There are four main types of pintos stock type, hunter type, pleasure type and saddle type.
In the horse world there is a lot of confusion between what a pinto is and what a Paint is. The reason there is a lot of confusion is because they both have one thing in common... They both have a flashy coat, featuring patches of white and solid color.
