He was born in Pisca, Italy on February 15, 1564 to a middle class family who got there money off his dads musical career. At eighteen, he attended the University of Pisca. He then married Marina Gamba and had two daughters and a son. Some of his most famous books include Two New Sciences, The Assayer, and On the Shoulders of Giants. Galileo died on January 08, 1642 at the age of seventy-seven.
Galileo's main belief was that the world was NOT the center of the universe. He belived this at a time where the Roman Catholic church was the head power, and what everyone believed. The Roman Catholic church believed the world was the center, and because of that, all the people did. Because the church didn't like what Galileo thought, they put him under house arrest, so he couldn't leave his house for the rest of his life. The church didn't like Galileo's aroggance and confidence, which is part of the reason why they didn't believe him.
Galileo's theory wasn't acknowledged until a couple hundred years later when Albert Einstein finally proved the world was NOT the center of the world in his Theory of Relativity.
Galileo has created many, many things that are still used today. The first thing he was credited for was the thermometer, which he made in 1606. Galileo also made the hydrostatic balance, which could weigh objects in water and air. Another huge invention made was the microscope, which is one of the biggest modern impacts to science today. Galileo also had major advancements in astronomy, that he is considered the "Father of Astronomy". He made the telescope, and with it, he found the moon, Venus, and "satellites" or moons on Jupiter. Another astronomic achievement he had was finding sunspots on the sun. Overall, Galileo had many impacts on the scientific and astronomic world.
