The setting in this novel is in a small fortified town in the middle of rot and ruin.
Tom Imura
Nix
- Tom is Benny older brother.
- His job for the town is going out and killing the loved ones of the towns people that have turned.
- He is very secretive and Benny dosen't trust him
- Nix is one of Benny's bestfriends and is always their for him. She is caring and can carry her own if she needs to.
I would recomend this book to teens because I feel the would relate more to the main charater then anyone else and have a better understanding

Charlie pink-eye is a ruthless bounty hunter and is in the same job as Tom making them rivals. He will do anything to hurt Tom and his business.

Laura is a mysterious girl who is believed to be a legend or fable in ruin.
- Benny is the main character in this book and he is Toms younger brother.
- He has just turned 15 and has to find a job in town or they will not give him food.
- He could join the family business but because he doesn't like tom he tries to avoid doing it.
Internal conflict-the internal conflict in this novel is that Benny's orginal thought of rot and ruin was cool and bounty hunters where heros but he soon finds out there not all that great.

- The story starts by explaining that Benny needs a job before the town cuts his rations.
- He takes as a bounty hunter with his brother and his brother begins training him.
- His brother takes him out on his first assignment and his whole view of the world changes.
- Next Benny finds a trading card card of the lost girl and begins to investigate on her.
- The painter of the card then tells Benny the story of the lost girl

Knowledge came at a price in this novel when Benny learned the truth about the lost girl because of this people began dying to get information on the girl.

Some motifs in the story are that multiple times during the story Benny always got mad at Tom for what happened on the first night and Tom avoided the subject everytime>
