In the following commercial, which was watch by millions during the Superbowl, I will be analyzing the Audience, Purpose, Diction, and Tone and its affect on the viewers.
Coca-Cola's tone in this commercial is very heartfelt and examples of tone throughout the song include: assertive, patriotic, and joyful. The song's, "America the Beautiful, diction reveals the attitude of how patriotic America is with its multiracial people and it makes a very joyful commercial because everyone is smiling.
The purpose of this advertisement is to represent that America is full of diversity. The song "America the Beautiful" is played in the background in different languages to show that America is not just one race or culture rather thousands with all kinds of people in it. It also seemed to raise awareness of the issue of the now declined ban on mostly muslim countries President Trump made at the time.
The Coca-Cola commercial "America is Beautiful"
Coca-Cola is a worldwide drink brand known to billions of people especially in America. its advertisements often tend to show how diversity and a single drink can impact people's lives. Most of the time their commercials are heartfelt and give a purpose to an issue and the other times it plays a role with humor. The commercial I will be analyzing today shares Coca-Cola's main idea of diversity.
The intended audience were American people, since this was viewed during the Superbowl, an American football championship. Another audience this was intended for was other people around the world of different races, genders, and cultures. They show different people and different situations like from the beginning of a cowboy to a muslim showing the diversity of Americans
The commercial uses both visual and verbal diction to reveal the story it is trying to explain to its viewers. Visual diction is used to tell a story of different people and situations. For example, the tap dancers who were free styling or the family in the movie theater. This reveals that anyone and/or anyplace someone can share coke. Verbal Diction is used throughout the song because it is played in different languages like Spanish and Arabic.
