Green Biotechnology

Plant genetic engineering

The selective and transfer of beneficial gene from one to another to create new improved crops. Examples cotton, sweet potato.

Examples of Green Biotechnology

Examples of that would be the development of transgenic plants that are calculated to survive under precise environmental circumstances. A large goal of the green biotechnology is to expand more environment friendly solutions, for example to find a way take out the need for pesticides.

Goals of Green Biotechnology

  • Tackle food security issues
  • Reduce the environment
  • Plants for fuels

Importance of Green Biotechnology

One hope is that green biotechnology might produce more environmentally friendly solutions than traditional industrial agriculture. An example of this is the engineering of a plant to express a pesticide, thereby eliminating the need for external application of pesticides.

What is Green Biotechnology?

Green Biotechnology is the use of genetically altered plants or animals to produce more environmentally-friendly farming solutions as an alternative to traditional agriculture, horticulture, and animal breeding processes.
