LANGUAGE BARRIER

COMMUNICATION BARRIER

Is a figurative phrase used primarily to indicate the difficulties faced when communicating with others while speaking multiple languages. If the receiver didn`t understand the speaker due to their different dialects, language and accents or even people with disabilities such as deaf and mute can lead to language barrier.

Examples of language barrier

body language

the process of communicating non verbally through conscious or unconscious gestures and movements. Such behavior includes facial expressions, body posture, gestures, eye movement, touch and the use of space. Body language exists in both animals and humans, but this article focuses on interpretations of human body language. It is also known as kinetics.

For Kim Thompson (2014), crossing your arms can also be a cause of body language barrier. You might look nervous or in a judgmental attitude. People might also think that you’re in a defensive mode as if you’re going to fight with them.

One body language communication barrier is not keeping eye contact with someone who is talking to you. If you do not keep eye contact with someone who is talking to you they may get annoyed with you as you will look like you are not listening.

Another body language communication barrier is slouching. For example, you may not be sat upright in a chair and instead laid back as if you are going to go to sleep. This does not give off a good impression to someone who is talking to you as it makes you look like you are not interested at all in what they are saying and would rather go to sleep.

One of the examples of language barriers is body language barrier. According to Body Language Barriers to Communication (2013), not having eye contact to the person you’re talking to is one of the body language barrier to communication. The speaker might think that you’re not paying attention and you are just daydreaming. They might get annoyed because they think you’re not listening to them. They will assume that you’re unfocused and you’re not interested to the things they say.
