Peidmont Region

Climate in the Piedmont Region isn't so bad. Winters are cool with 57 degrees being the average. Summers are hot with an average of 89 degrees and the rainfall is moderate. Unlike other regions like the Appalachians they are not freezing cold with winters being around 20-30 degrees.

The Piedmont Region is a plateau which lies between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Upper Coastal Plains. Piedmont takes up about 30 percent of the state. It is the second-largest region in the state with Coastal Plain being the first. The capital of Georgia (Atlanta) is also located in this region.

Population of Piedmont

The Regions

Piedmont has a population of 4.646 million people. It is that large because of Atlanta. Many people live there.

Georgia has five regions.

  • Costal Plains
  • Piedmont
  • Valley and Ridge
  • Blue Ridge
  • The Appalachians.

Piedmont Buiness Industry

In the 1930's the soil was tired and spent small farms went out of buisness and cotton fields were abandoned. Sadly since there weren't alot of cotton fields, forestry was the main agriculture. Urban growth between the 1940's-1960's changed Piedmont. Now we have larger cities and lots of sites like:

  • Stone Mountain
  • World of Coco Cola
  • Six Flags
