EDUCATION
- The Potters live in areas of Uganda, Eastern DRC, Burundi, and Rwanda.
- Some researches indicate that they are between 30000 and 35000 in Rwanda.
- Because of deforestation, they were pushed from their ancestral land (forests) for cattle and cultivation purposes.
- After losing this land without indemnity and their consent, they adopted the pottery, the only source of their income.

Short History of the Potters Community
- Indigenous people of Rwanda, also known as the potters or the “Batwa.”
- Pygmies indigenous people were the first to inhabit the equatorial forests.
- They used to be called “people of the forest”.
- This community constitutes a political, social and ethnic minority in whole central African region.
