Respiratory Therapy

Physical Therapist

Example in Patient Care Setting

Lizzy was admitted to the hospital unconsciously and requires help breathing, among other things.

Example in Patient-Care Setting

  • In this instance the respiratory therapist inserts a tube into the trachea. During Lizzy's stay the nurse will assist in monitoring the equipment to ensure the patient is receiving the right amount of oxygen at the correct rate and has the ability to adjust it.

John is a 22 year old patient who was in a car accident and broke both legs. He has been in recovery and is now able to put some weight on his legs.

  • In this instant John will need a physical therapist to help him get back on his feet and get used to walking again. The physical therapist will most likely consult with the nurse to determine John's activity intolerance.
