Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle
Their diet consists of sea urchins, algae/seaweed, jellyfish, mollusks, and crustaceans such as crabs and shrimp.
- Hatchlings wander into open-ocean sargassum weed and graze.
- They change color and reach maturity at age 12-13.
- Adults mate and nest offshore.
- Gender determination is influenced by temperature during incubation (they will probably be male if it is below 29.5 degrees Celsius).

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
- Hatchlings travel to open ocean areas and are sometimes pulled out into the Atlantic by currents.
- Adults return to sandy or muddy shores in the northern Gulf of Mexico.
- They are around 70 cm long and 40 kg in weight.
- Adults' shells are an olive-grey color while their underbodies are yellow-white.
- Hatchlings are almost completely dark grey-black.
- They have a beak and flipper-like front limbs for swimming.
