FIDDLEHEADS

Ferns are used as a frowing medium for Orchids. Fiddle heads are the tightly foiled new leaves of ferns youngfiddleheads of some speices are eaten by humans as a regetable, Fiddle heads uncoils and develop into mature leaves called FRONDS.

PTENDOPHYTA

Ferns belong to the phylum ptendophyta and are a diverse group. Elouting plants that are less than 1 cm. Ferns probably riginated over 360 ferns. They also grow above the artic and in the desert regions. Largest living are the ferns that reach 2 cm in hright, and some reach 5 cm. the ferns live in tropical and nontropical areas. Most ferns have underground stem called RHIZOME (found in few species.

Sentophyta.

The sentophyta is a spore bearing group of vscular plants with both living and extinct (fossil) member found in Southwest Virgina. It's common name of the group is called Arthrophyta (meaning "jointed plants"). Incluedes Horetails of genus Equistem.Horsetails have Jointed Photosynthetic stems that contain silica, with scale-like leaves at each joint. The vertical stems of horsetails which grow from a rhizome, are hollow and have joints, spores form in cones located at the tips of the stems.
