Starbucks is an American born coffee chain from Seattle, Washington. Their first store was opened in the city in 1971 and is now the largest coffee house company around the world with over 20,366 stores in 61 countries.

Krispy Kreme has come from and still is progressing from very humble and respectable beginnings. During the summer of 1937 a New Orleans Chef started what is now one of the most well-known regional doughnut houses in America.

Residual Plots

Although, when it comes down to the residual plots, the regression shows a much steadier growth with Starbucks and less fluctuation. Sadly after 2008 that steady growth takes a turn for the worse. Starbucks regression constantly fluctuates and has a very unsteady growth pattern. To determine future data sets; Starbucks- y=19.897x-38852.882, Krispy Kreme- y=2.306x-4587.214. These line regression equations can help conclude forthcoming data for growth in stores. Unfortunately, because of the data that was provided by each company there is a high chance for a margin of error but can become much more conclusive through re-affirmed data. Also, due to economic fluctuation with the struggle of a recession, there was a clear effect on number of stores released within those years. Lastly, for the most accurate representation of unbiased data, the # of stores opened per year should begin from the birth of the company.
