One-party state

There is currently a one-party state being used in Lao, it has been in power since 1975. The Laos peoples revolutionary party is based off of communism, Marxism-Leninism.

a type of authoritarian government

Only allows one political party, the existence of another party is forbidden.

The Lao peoples revolutionary party came into power in 1975. They came to power after a long fought war with the government at that time , the vietnamese would not leave the country even after multiple peace treaties that had been put forward, so they began to attack government outposts. The royal government fell in May 1975, allowing the LPRP to take control.

In order to justify their wrongdoings they have kept it from the media and other sources, it is very difficult to even find the wrongdoings of the LPRP because the government keeps it quiet.

one-party state

In a one-party state only one party can run and be in charge of the government. All other parties are forbidden from being a part of elections or being in government. This type of government describes themselves as a peoples republic, socialist republic, or democratic republic. They are often communist states, but use these other terms to indicate that they do take the peoples will into account.

The LPRP has not done all good things, they are commonly removed from their family homes and land in order to build golf courses.

The LPRP has proven itself to be a very resilient party.

They have returned land rights to peasants, state owned industry became privatized, the economy became opened to foreign capital, and development aid was allowed from any country that wanted to give it.
