Chief Elder - She is serious (her rules are very strict and she doesn't take crime lightly) and she is a dictator (she rules, governs and controls Jonas' society). We chose Judi Dench for this role because she has experience as old and leader roles (such as in James Bond).
Jonas - He is caring (he likes to help people and cares for Gabe), he is curious (he wants to know things like why changes were made in his society and what the change of the apple was) and he is rebellious (he doesn't agree the Elders and wants to make a change). We chose Logan Lerman for this role because Jonas is a teen character and Logan has played many teen roles.
Asher - He is obedient (he follows
all of the society rules and knows
when to break them) and he is
attentive (he is a very good friend
to Jonas and even defies the rules
for him). We chose Dylan O'Brien
for this role because he has played
teen roles and looks just as young
as Logan Lerman, which is good as
he needs to look similar to Jonas.
The Giver - He is loving (he feels true love for Jonas), he is wise (he holds all the memories of the society, making him know virtually everything) and he's kind (he is very nice to Jonas and tries not to upset him). We chose Ian McKellen for this role because of his amazing performance as Gandalf the Grey, a wise and old person just like the Giver.
Linkin Park - Shadow Of The Day (it fits
the sad tone that most of the movie portrays,
especially when Jonas starts to realize the
flaws of his society).
Fiona - She is caring (she enjoys caring for the Old when she volunteers) and she is playful (she likes to play games with Jonas and Asher and she likes playing with children). We chose Jennifer Lawrence for this role because she has experience acting as teen girls (Fiona herself is a teen girl) and she looks like a teen.
Colour, weather, love, these are all things we live with in our daily lives, and it would be odd if we didn't have them. But in Jonas' society, it isn't odd at all, because these things don't exist...anymore. When Jonas becomes the next Receiver of Memory, he clutches the shocking truth, and his life never stays the same.
Ladies and gentlemen, directed by the amazing Mr. M Finkster and produced by the DRACK BAR association, we present to you, The Giver: Escape to Elsewhere.
Eminem - Till I Collapse Instrumental (this
will be used when Jonas is on his way to Elsewhere through the harsh conditions as it portrays strength and bravery.
Rosemary - She is curious (like Jonas, she also wants to know what the past was like and she wants the memories) and she is loving (she feels true love for the Giver, which you can infer from her kiss). We chose Alexandria Daddario for this role because she has played daughter-like and young roles.
Jonas' Father - He is obedient (he almost
always follows the society's rules) and he
is caring (he works at the Nurturing Center
where he cares for babies and Gabe). We
chose Brad Pitt for this role because he is
a veteran at acting and he has experience
at father-like roles.
Suspense Music - Mastermind (this will be
used when it is revealed what really happens
to babies when they are twins, as it provides
suspense build-up to the ultimate reveal,
making the audience pulled into the scene more).
Zack Hemsey - The Way Instrumental (this will be played when Jonas is in the midst of escaping the community, as it adds an epic and dramatic tone to the scene.
Jonas' Mother - She is intelligent (you can imply that she is smart if she works at the Department of Justice) and she is caring (just like Jonas' father, she cared for the family). We chose Scarlett Johansson for this role because she looks mature and has played mother-like roles before.
Japan Relaxing Music - Happy Time (this will be played near the beginning when Jonas' society seems to be utopian, since
at first, the tone of the movie is happy and
this music is very cheery-toned).
Lily - She is childish (just like
most children, she likes to play
around and ask childish questions)
and she is caring (she seems to
care for her stuffed hippo and
Jonas). We chose Maggie Elizabeth
Jones because Lily is 8 and Maggie
looks around that age, and she has
also played MANY toddler/child roles.
