This manual explains several steps that will allow one to operate a Spinning Jenny. The Spinning Jenny was made in 1764 by James Hargreaves. It can be used by children, teenagers, and adults. The Spinning Jenny is the easiest way to spin cotton with little work.
Step 4: Hold onto the firmly clamped bar (7) with both hands
and move it towards oneself. The cotton will stretch. The fibers are now ready to be spun
Step 5: Hold onto the bar (8) with the left hand. Begin to spin
the wheel (1) with the right hand. Continue spinning until the cotton is fully spun.
Step 6: Once the cotton is spun into thread. Push the bars (7)
back with both hands. This action will wind the newly spun thread around the spindle (3).

Pull on the cotton fibers until they are almost completely apart. Begin twisting the fibers. Wrap the cotton around the roving. Attach the roving to the creel (6).
Step 2: Hold onto the ends of the cotton once it is fully twined
around the roving. Extend the cotton to the lower bar, (7) Make sure the cotton is lined up on the clamps.
