Peter Van Daan is very quiet boy. He is about sixteen years old and he loves his cat. I don't like Peter personally he is kind of annoying because he never does anything. But i would have to call him a protagonist.
Mrs.Van Daan is a protagonist. Even though some of the time she can be a little snobby. She doesn't like being in this attic at all. She is always crying and thinks everything should go her way.
Even though Hitler wasn't really a main character he kind of was. Basically they don't talk about Hitler that much or meet him but the story revolves around him. He was the one who basically made people go into hiding and he was the one who put many lives in danger. He was for sure the antagonist in this book.
Mr.Van Daan was a very good man who lived in the Annex he loved telling stories and smoking. He would get very angry when they started running out of money for his smoking money. But he is another protagonist most of the time.
Otto is Anne's father, Anne very much prefers him over her mother. Mr. frank is the one who basically set up this hiding place in the Secret Annexe. Mr. Frank was a protagonist. He also loved to write but more poems than stories. He was the only one out of the eight in the attic to survive a concentration camp.
Anne Frank is the main Character and the girl who wrote this Diary. I consider Anne a Protagonist in this story. Anne is a jewish girl who live in Amsterdam in the 1940s. In this story she starts off at about thirteen years old and has a happy family. Anne loves to write, hang out with friends, and play with her kitten.
Edith Frank is Anne mother, Anne and her other often don't get along. Anne thinks her mother prefers Anne sister Margot. Edith is very quite just does her business. Being in the attic kind of frightens her. I would say she is a protagonist most of time except when her and Anne fight.
Alfred Dussel is a late comer to the Annex they had an extra room and he was a good guy and so they him come. Alfred was a dentist and he had fiance. He would always try to send her letters. He could be a very annoying man to Anne he always woke up early and exercised and hogged the desk. But all in all he was a protagonist.
Margot is Anne older sister. she is very mature, loves reading, and is jealous of Anne. She is about sixteen years old and i feel bad because her life is just starting out and now she is stuck in a attic. I would say she is protagonist but she can be mean to Anne sometimes.
Mother thinks Peter is in love with Anne. They are always spending time with each other. Im not sure how i feel because you would get lonely because it has been two years. Dad said they shouldn't get to close because if they start fighting. They will never be able to get away from each other. I can see where he is getting at with that.
This day in history the Frank family moved into the Annex. It was only the four of them to start and it was quiet a stretch. Things were a lot different no using the bathroom or even moving during certain times in the day. About a week later the Van Daans came and then about a month later Mr. Dussel came to live in the annex.
Sadly in this day in history the family living in the secret annexe has been discovered. They were all captured and sent to prison camps. Its makes me very sad because the war was almost over. All except Outto Frank died in labor camps. Luckily he survived after the war and the labor camps. It is a shame but Anne always wanted to be remembered and her dream has come true.
These families have been stuck inside for almost a year now. Take a second and imagine that being with the same few people for a year straight no going outside. That would be hard and that's what the families are thinking. They are getting so annoyed with each other. On top of that food is running low. Someone on the outside is bringing there food in.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! Booms going of every where. Sitting in an attic no where to go, you have to sit and wait it out. So loud you can't hear yourself think. Worrying if your going to get hit by a boom and die. That's what the families thought living in the annex that night but not only them other families in Amsterdam too.
All over the radio they are saying today is the day, today is D-Day. The invasion has begun and everyone is so happy. Could this be the day they are finally free in which they can walk outside among there peers. Troops are ready to come in and fight the germans! This could be the day they are free.
Its been almost two years now and Anna and her mother are fighting like crazy. Anna just cant stand her she feels like her mother is favoring her sister. She is so mad at her and just cant help herself. I do understand what she getting at but her mom doesn't seem that bad.
This book is about a family who is almost forced into hiding. If they don't hide they may end up in a horrible place. One where you work till you die. This is a terribly sad true story. Of a young girl and her family stuck in hiding for almost two whole years. Not going outside or seeing her friends.
1. A connection i had made is one between Mrs.Van Daan and Piper from Al Capone Does My Shirts. They both are very similar they are sneaky and want everything.
2. This also reminds me of The Boy in The Stripped Pajamas because it also has to do with World War two.
This was really good book but some parts were a little boring but it was very interesting. I recommended this book to seventh and up it is kind of a challenging book and very long. It also is very mature and serious.
This book takes place in World War two in Amsterdam. It also takes place in the secret annex above Anna's fathers work place.
Back then Hitler had so much power and was very controlling He did not like Jewish people and they had very few rights. they were not allowed to go the movies, public beaches, no voting, electricity, sugar, and a lot of other crazy things.
During certain times they couldn't even move or use the bathroom. they couldn't risk workmen knowing people where hidden in the Annex. But when they could move they read, wrote, made poems, cut up fruit, or maybe cook. They were in the Annex for 2 years imagine that not going outside for that long. So it got very boring and everyday they were in risk of going to a concentration camp.
