Ms.Lulu Whites first career was a teacher in the
height, a black community on the outskirts of Houston.
Then Lulu later became a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People or
(NAACP).
Where they later hired her, as the first paid executive secretery.
In 1943, she was elevated to full-time secretary of the Houston Branch, making her the first woman to ever hold such a post. Under her leadership, Houston became the second largest NAACP chapter in the country.
Finally in 1946 she was named director of state branches for the state of Texas.
Lulu Belle Madison White, was a teacher and a civil rights activist.
Lulu White was born in 1907.
She attended elementary and High Schools in Elmo, then later enrolled in Butler College in Tyler.
Later in life, Lulu married Julius White.
Shortly after Lulu was married, she enrolled in Prarie View College.
