Action Plan

To prevent this species from becoming extinct, the places, specifically nearby low-lying forests, inhabited by this species should be declared protected areas. This will prevent deforestation occurring. These areas should also be protected from urban development. Regulation and restrictions on the use and disposal of fertilizers and pesticides to avoid agricultural run-off from polluting the waters inhabited by the species. The local agencies should also work hand-in-hand with other government and private agencies for the protection of the species and its habitat.

Importance

We would defend our organism in terms of its prioritization for protection by emphasizing on its endemism in our country specifically in the islands of Busuanga, Cullion, and Palawan. Though there are other species that are also important, each species must be given equal importance and prioritization. If we do not take any action to protect this species, it could be extinct in the next several years. We must do our part in preserving and conserving the species of our country.

Habitat

Characteristics

This species dwells within mountain streams and lowland rainforest rivers, wherein it would hide beneath rocks or float upon the water surface. The rivers wherein it dwells are fast flowing and mostly undisturbed; disturbance alerts them to hide amongst rocks.
