Trigonometry Investigation
Aim of Investigation:
To understand that the ratio of the side lengths in a right angled triangle is fixed for each chosen angle.
Trigonometry uses this fact to find unknown sides and angles in right angled triangles.
- Measure as accurately as you can all the sides of each triangle and complete the table.
- Work out each fraction as a decimal to 2 dp's
- What do you notice?
- Discuss and compare your results with the person next to you.

Label the sides of each triangle as shown below.
The longest side is called the hypotenuse.
The side opposite your chosen angle is called the opposite.
The side next to both the right angle and your chosen angle is called the adjacent.
