Eat Glue

– Become Stuck and Addicted

  • Asthma, allergies, gluten-intolerance, celiac disease, digestive disturbances, mucous and congestive conditions, yeast infections, candidiasis, autism, learning disorders, schizophrenia, arthritis, some auto-immune diseases and chronic over-eating are all related to grain consumption.
  • Associated with binge eating and strong cravings
  • Gluten contains 15 different opioid sequences and glidianomorphins – a trigger for autism
  • Opioid sequences are called exorphins which are addictive and neurotoxic
  • Hope for emotional release is most likely the use of addictive substances…they leave us numb

Food Addictions

  • Food addictions can lead to obesity, hypertension, diabetes, insomnia, anxiety, etc.
  • People with food allergies may have a Vit B deficiency, thus suppressing dopamine and serotonin production and therefore affecting mood.
  • Are there new proteins in GMO foods that cause allergies? We don’t know the long-term effects yet!

Fat and the Brain

  • Nerve signals travel down our neurons, binding to receptor sites. The myelin sheath allows neurons to be skipped, the Na/K transmission happens in the nodes, transmitting messages to different parts of our body.
  • Healthy myelin sheath= faster nerve transmission.
  • Good fats are needed to build the cells of the myelin sheath and promote balanced brain activity
  • Balanced brain = balanced mood, therefore no longer crave comfort foods

The Secret to Food Allergies

  • An estimated 1.8 million Americans have an allergy to tree nuts.  Allergic reactions to tree nuts are among the leading causes of fatal and near-fatal reactions to foods. Tree nuts include, but are not limited to, walnut, almond, hazelnut, coconut, cashew, pistachio, and Brazil nuts. These are not to be confused or grouped together with peanut, which is a legume, or seeds, such as sunflower or sesame.  Like those with peanut allergies, most individuals who are diagnosed with an allergy to tree nuts tend to have a lifelong allergy.
  • An “allergy” is your body reacting to undigested proteins in the blood. When food is completely digested, broken down to the smallest particles possible, it becomes non-allergenic
  • The immune system recognizes these tiny particles, but it does not recognize undigested proteins.
  • Because digestion breaks down proteins, a significant amount of allergic reaction symptoms can be reduced by chewing!

What are Comfort Foods?

  • High fat content – the bad fats – heated, rancid, transfats

  • This is called the Maillard Reaction – similar to caramelisation. It happens when proteins and sugars are heated together.

Gluten Free is not a Fad

  • The digestive system is best suited for gentle,
  • soluble fibre found in fruits and tender vegetables.
  • The fibre in grains is coarse and sharp,
  • irritating the mucosal lining of the gut.
  • More irritation = more mucus secretion and therefore less surface area for nutrients to be absorbed leading to a build-up of mucoid plaque. It also moves quicker through the digestive system, meaning less nutrients are absorbed.
  • When refined into a flour, will go rancid quickly and when consumed breakdown into glucose quickly due to their large surface area. This means a quick increase in blood sugar.
  • Consuming grains allows for the maximum of calories, minimal nutrients = malnutrition!
  • Dr. Doug Graham: “Sprouted grains are still nutritionally deficient but at least aren’t further compromised by cooking” – Sprouted grains are good for transitioning.

  • Humans have thrived for 10 million years without consuming grains
  • Jared Diamond, author of scientific book, Guns, Germs, and Steel believes that “the farming of grains have led to the demise of entire human populations” by creating the scenario where most calories were obtained from 1-2 crops = inadequate nutrition.
  • Allowed civilizations to survive until more nutritious foods become available.
  • Are grain eating societies thriving or slowly weakening by over consumption?
  • Grains usually require cooking, a custom not practiced by any other species.
  • We naturally want to eat foods that taste good, raw grains are unpleasant and bitter.
  • Birds are the only natural grain eaters and we are nothing like them.
  • High in acid-forming minerals such as phosphorus – during digestion, leeches calcium to buffer the acid.
  • When Cows eat Monsanto Grains, their stomachs burst! Addicting?
  • Sick cows – more antibiotics = super bugs
