A WALL-E LIKE FUTURE?
Do you think that the ability to control a space (like in video games) can become an obsession?
What do you think this could lead to?
Do you think social media is a good thing or that rather than being for "socializing" it makes us unsociable?
Is this all having a negative or positive impact?
With everything at the palm of our hand it's easy for everyone to become lazy.
We can get food delievered to our houses, talk to anyone we want to anytime we want, even see people through our screens.
"We can eliminate space and distance"
- Graham Meikle.
Years ago you would only access news through reading a newspaper or watching news at set TV news programme times.
Now you can read the news online and search the latest news related to the topic you are interested in at anytime.
News is also spread through social network sites... giving journalists new ways to deliver their stories to audiences, and audiences new ways to find news.

Technology lets us see things in the future and from our past:
And no longer do we have to wait until tomorrow or next week to watch the next episode... some programmes offer the next programme up to a week early. Or, we can record an entire series on series link (or buy a boxset) and watch them all at once.
Waiting for the next days newspaper is a thing of the past... now news is available constantly, instantly, timelessly...
Idea of the human race becoming obsessed with control and technology... life becomes like a computer game
An example of how powerful media convergence can be found is in the raid on Osama Bin Laden's compound:
"Timeless Time" - Castells
Due to technology, we are increasingly in control of time. Using the record, re-wind, pause and catch-up options we can mould TV to our own schedule.
TV is being re-shaped.
Not only can we choose when we watch it, we can also choose where... gone are the days we had to wait until we were sat in front of the TV to watch our favourite programmes... now we can even watch them on our phones or tablets on the way to work, if we want to.
Another example of powerful media convergence is when Ellen DeGeneres' selfie at the 2014 Oscars was retweeted over 3,000,000 times...which broke President Obama's record of 781,403 retweets
The picture became so widely popular on social media websites that several remakes of the photo were created.
