*Hours:

-Many jobs are 7am-3pm with call, but timings can vary

-Some 24 hr shift 2 times a week

-Share weekends and holidays.

*Scheduling:

-Not as flexible because when on call, you don't know when you will have to leave

-24 hours shifts are not very healthy for the body- sleep wise

-Full time shifts run from 8-10 hours, about 3-4 times a week

-Half day shifts can range from 3-4 hours.

-Morning, evening, and night time shifts because hospital runs 24/7.

Workload/Responsibilities

Pharmacist

*Knows the chemical composition of drugs and how they react in living bodies

*Knows how drugs interact with each other

*Measures and packs medicine, making sure its dosage is correct and patients know how to use it correctly

*Educates patients on the medication and what reactions or problems to be avoided

Nurse Anesthetist

*Administers anesthesia and monitors the patient throughout the surgery

*Makes the specific anesthesia required

*Ensures proper recovery from anesthesia until the patient is transferred to a care unit

*Monitors body functions and changes the anesthetic to ensure safety during surgery
