Judges 15:7-8

Samson

He attacked them viciously and slaughtered many of them. Then he went down and stayed in a cave in the rock of Etam

Samson's sin, redemption, and call to thanksgiving

Samson was a the kind of man to always take revenge on people who did him wrong. He wouldn't be afraid to murder someone brutally because they betrayed him or hurt him in some way.

However, when Samson was bound to the pillars in the temple, weak and vulnerable, God gave Samson his strength back so he could do what is right and kill the Phillistines. He was forgiven for his wrong doings and died a heroic death.

Samson

  • The Phillstines gouged out Samson's eyes

  • They made Samson come out and entertain them while they celebrated in Dagon's temple

  • Samson pleads to God to give him his strength back and he does

  • Samson brings down the pillars in the temple, killing both him and all the Phillistines in there

  • He did this in revenge for his two eyes

  • Samson led Israel for twenty years

  • He was the son of Manoah and his wife

  • If he would cut his hair, he would lose his strength

  • Samson first married a Phillistine woman but he then gave her to a friend. Later she and her father were burned alive by the Phillistines

  • He then fell in love with Deliah, who after three times of him lying learned how to rid him of his strength. She handed him over to the Phillistines

Abdon

After him, Abdon son of Hillel from Pirathon, led Israel. He had fourty sons and thirty grandsons, who rode on seventy donkeys. He led Israel eight years.

Elon

After him, Elon the Zebulunite led Israel ten years. Then Elon died, and was buried in Aijalon in the land of Zebulun.

Judges 12:9

Ibzan

He had thirty-sons, and thirty daughters he gave to marriage outside his clan, and thirty daughters he brought in from outside for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years.

  • He led Israel for seven years

  • He had married off his thirty sons and thirty daughters to people outside of his clan

  • He was buried in Bethlehem
