Francium is a very rare element. There is only about an ounce of it on earth at a given time. It is formed from decomposed uranium or synthetically in a lab. It has a half-life of only 20 minutes!!

The least and the slowest reacting of all the alkali metals is lithium. Pure lithium is its most reactive form and is used in nuclear reactors and batteries. The nonreactive form is used to treat bipolar disorders. Lithium is also the lightest metal and least dense solid.
Cesium has extremely violent explosions when coming ito contact with water and also combusts when in contact with air. Cesium is also used to get rid of trace gasses in a vacuum and is also used in atomic clocks. Cesium has a melting point at 83.19 degrees Fahrenheit.
The alkali metals are some of the most highly reactive elements. These elements include lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium, cesium, and francium. All of these metals are very soft and can be cut by a knife. These metals form a hydrogen gas when they react with water causing an explosion because of the heat produced when they come in contact. These metals have one valance electron. This makes it very common for these elements to be combined with other elements.
Rubidium is often found in nature combined with other elements, mostly with cesium. It can also spontaneously ignite when in contact with air. It is mainly used as a propellant in ion engines on spacecraft. Also it can be used to eliminate traces of oxygen from vacuum tubes.
Sodium is the next most reactive of the group. Although we eat a combination of sodium chloride(salt), sodium by itself is highly reactive. When it comes into contact with air in its purest form, it can burst into flames.
Potassium is an everyday nutrient. It is a necessity to maintain your health. It helps to prevent stroke, heart disease, and high-blood pressure. Although it is not found by itself in nature, when it is by itself, you don't want to ingest it.
