Humans Hunt Bengal Tigers

Grass consumes H2o

Tigers are being hunted almost everyday (See Figure 1), but it is starting to be impossible for humans to hunt tigers. The reason why, is because tigers are becoming extinct. So, humans are leaning more towards hunting leopards. Some cultures use tiger body parts to make traditional medicine. But the main reason is that a lot of criminal gangs poach tigers and make an estimated eleven billion selling on the black market. They are also continuously used as a status symbol among some cultures. They also use the tigers' skin as ornaments (See Figure 2), such as rugs or coats.

Grass absorbs H2o in it's roots, so grass is technically eating H2o. Grass needs water to survive just like how humans do. Some grass can grow up to 40 cm (120 feet) long. (See Figure 8). Also, some grasses clone themselves year after year. Different types of grass are estimated to be 250 meters long, 100 years of age (See Figure 7). Other grasses such as Festuca Ovina are 8 meters in diameter which is equivalent to four full grown men lying down.

Tigers Hunt Antelopes

Tigers are carnivores, that means they are flesh eating animals (See Figure 3).Tigers have a very specific way of hunting their prey, first, they hide and stalk their prey then, when their prey is 20-30 feet away from them they lunge out and run after them (See Figure 4).Tigers are able to leap forward more then 30 feet, they do this by stretching their body out.Tigers do not hunt in packs.

Figure 4: This video shows a tiger trying to hunt a herd of antelopes.

Antelopes Eat Grass

Antelopes eat grass and antelopes really love grass (See Figure 5), but they usually have to share their grass fields with grazing sheep which means antelope are left with less grass because the grazing sheep eat it all. Also, Antelope can be found in short grass areas and long grass areas. Antelopes teeth are high crowned which means they have extra material on their teeth which is adapted for crushing and grinding. Surprisingly, Antelopes are also the fastest land mammal in North America (See Figure 6), and are able to run up to 95 km. Antelopes run with their mouth open to fuel their running muscles with oxygen. Plus, their horns are 50 cm long!
