Kitty Hawk, NC

Wilbur and Orville Wright were not born here but moved here and did some pretty cool things. The brothers moved here to this small town to experiment with planes. Later the brothers soon built a working airplane.

Montgomery, AL

Atlanta, GA

Atlanta's history is very unique. During General Sherman's March To The Sea he captured Atlanta and the trains that bring supplies. Sherman burned down Atlanta and then went to Savanna.

A lady named Rosa Park who was an African American was on a bus and refused to give her seat to a white bus rider. She then got arrested for boycotting. Martin Luther King Jr. achieved attention for Civil Rights issues during his term as a pastor. He then lad a four day march for justice.

Gettysburg, PA

July 3, 1863 was the deadliest and bloodiest battle this battle was called Battle of Gettysburg. The Union had 3,000+ killed the Confederate had 4,000+ killed. Union won at a great loss because of all the troops that were killed. After the war Lincoln went to Gettysburg and gave the most meaningful speech and it was called The Gettysburg Address.

The Mojave Desert

The Mojave Desert occupies a significant portion of California and parts of Utah, Nevada, and Arizona. This desert contains many ghost towns.

The Salton Sea

The Salton Sea is the largest lake in California. It formed in 1905 when the Colorado River flood flows violated a flooding detour structure and temporally flowed into the dried-up Salton Sink. The name was later changed to The Salton Sea.

It is the largest lake in the western hemisphere and is located in Utah. Early explorers thought it connected to the Pacific Ocean. Most fishes or aquatic life can not live here because of the high amount of salt. The lake is 30 miles wide.

Washington, DC

Washington, DC was founded in 1790 and is located in Maryland. The white house is here and so is the Washington Monument. Washington DC is unique because it was established by the Constitution of the United States to serve as the nations capital.

Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon is in Arizona. Artifacts that have been found here are about 12,000 years old. It is 277 miles long and is 18 miles in width. It is 1 mile in depth. The Grand Canyon can be seen from space.

The Chisholm Trail

The Chisholm Trail located in Kansas. Cattlemen rounded up longhorns in Texas. They cropped their ears, branded their hides, and drove them north across the Indian Nations into Kansas.

Pearl Harbor

The Pearl Harbor is located in Hawaii and has an interesting history. On December 7, 1941 the Japanese shocked everyone when they bombed the American naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Frankin D. Roosevelt gave his Day of Infamy speech and on that same day congress declared war on Japan. On December 11 congress declared war on Germany.
