The estimate of the Wappo indians in 1770 is 1000. In 1910 census.The name Wappo came from settlers later on. The Wappo's spanish term guapo means brave, harsh, and severe.
Wappo indians love to dance and celebrate. Ceremonies were happening when they visit neighbors and have feasts. They have music thing like racoon rattles which is a cocoon filled with pebbles.
Foods
The food of the wappo tribe included ducks,rabbits,quail,geese, and deer. They ate their food using the clam spoon featured in slide 5.
The grass game is a game for 2 players or more. First person holds a few small bones and shuffles them back and fourth. The person sings to distract the person looking and after they try to guess the amount of sticks in their hand. The first person to 12 points win. The stick guessing game uses approximately 50 sticks. The opposing team tries to guess the number of sticks that is more than 8 in the person's hand

The wappo houses are shaped like ovals. the wappo's houses framework was made of willow poles, each bent in toward the center of the oval, forming a half of a circle. On the roof lots of grass are tied to the pole in the middle to make a thatched covering. Inside the floor is dug down 2 feet below to get more spaces in there. It was very common for several families to live in 1 house, but each family has it own place to go out.
the wapoo indians carried on very little trade but if they did the money would be polished clam shells put on a string in a group of ten... wait don't they use clam shells fo spoons??? I don't know.

The Wappo clothing is very neat and pretty it looks like this. The Wappo indians clothing is mostly made out of deer skin and tule bushes. The women wore apron like shirts a narrow piece was worn in front and a wider covering the back and hip. In warm weathers men did not often wear clothing. If they do they world wear it around their hips. They did not wear anything on there head or foot unless their was a celebration or the weather was very cold.
