Answer

Test

The Mercantilist System

3. Could people in New France trade with people in English colonies?

3. The people of New France were not able to trade with the English colonies

The Mercantilist System was a system where the french colonies supplied their parent country with raw materials, while buying manufactured goods in return. This system increased the wealth of their parent country and the more colonies it had, the richer the country would be. New France only traded with countries in the French Empire and couldn't trade with the English countries. The mercantilist system was meant to make france rich.

Test Questions

Triangular trade comparison

1. How many people lived in New France

at the time?

2. Who discovered triangular trade?

3.Could new France trade with people in

the English colonies.

The differences in between now and then is that basically everyone now can trade with anyone else but back then they could not. Also now we have much more ways to transport the items we are trading, such as: Planes, Jets, Gas powered boat and more. Back then they only had man powered or natural powered things to travel.

The Economy of New France

Triangular Trade

Test

Did New France make France rich?

Triangular trade was an economic trade pattern, where colonies could only trade with their parent country or other colonies from the same country. Triangular Trade was discovered by the Historians.

1. How many people lived in New France at the time?

2. Who discovered the Triangular trade?

New France did not make France as rich as Samuel de Champlain thought. This is because New France had a very small population and the short growing seasons were relatively short and the winters severe. In 1720 New England had a population of 466 200 while new France had about 24 900 people at around the same time. For all of these reasons New France probably did not succeed in high wealth.

France sent manufactured goods to New France,

and New France sent furs, wood, and fish to France.

France sent manufactured goods to Antilles and they

sent sugar, rum, tobacco, and molasses to France.

Antilles sent sugar, rum, tobacco, coffee, and molasses

to New France and they sent fish, flour, peas, amd

wood in return.

Answer

Comparison to Canada

2. The historians discovered the triangular trade

1. 24 900 people lived in New France at the time

Fur trade

1. Triangular trade

2. Fishery

3. Fur trade

There is no comparison for the mercantilist system and did new France make France rich because mercantilist system does not exist any more and new France making France rich has nothing to do with Canada now.

Fur trade was very poplar in new France and it was mainly controlled by the Hudson's bay company. To this day Hudson's bay is one of the oldest companies in the world. Canada was rich in fur bearing animals at the time, and the first nation people were keen to trade pelts for supplies. Beaver fur was especially good for making hats and hats were

very popular. Only people licensed by the company were allowed to trade fur with the first nations people. At the time another big group of traders were in Canada and they were run by the king.

The Fishery

Fishery comparison

Fur trade comparison

New France was mainly a "fish and furs' economy. Fish were very important exports from New France. The waters of New France were rich in fish such as halibut, cod and mackerel. They also packed the dried fish and loaded them on ships for the voyage to France.

The difference in between fisheries now and fisheries then is that now we harvest fish and collect them in much larger amounts. This is bad because now the population of fish has gone down so much. This has caused people to go much further in to the ocean. Going further in to the ocean is very dangerous because there is much more shark attacks, people lost at sea and even kids risking their lives deep diving.

The differences in between selling and trading fur back then and now is that now people have fake fur and they sell it in different ways. Also now fur is more than just fur. It is now blankets and sweaters, jackets, carpet, hat, mittens, and shoe insides. Finally, in the 21st century Hudson's bay is not the only company that dominates the fur trade and sell. Now there is so much companies that use fur, so so so many.
