Millennium Force

The first giga coaster, Millennium Force was built in 2000 by Intamin. It is 310 ft. tall with a 300ft. drop at 80 degrees, reaching a top speed of 94 MPH. Features two above-ground tunnels, three air time hills and four over banked turns. The average rating is 4.83. I have not ridden the Millennium Force and I would want to ride it because it seems like a thrill ride!

  • Lift Hill:

An elevator uses cables instead of a chain to move people from floor to floor.

The Ride

Jada Smith Block 5 6/5/15

  • It has 4.5 g-forces and a magnetic braking system so it will slow down automatically.

  • Circular Motion:

A Ferris wheel can keep the cart perfectly upright but will move in a circle.

  • Newton's first law:

An elephant will keep falling until it hits something.

  • When you are on a swing set you transfer potential energy to kinetic when you are at the top of the swing set to the bottom.

  • Interesting Facts:

-It has two tunnels and a magnetic breaking system.

-First roller coaster to use elevator cable system to lift the trains up the 310-foot tall hill.

- Estimated cost: $25 million.

-Train has 9 cars with 2 rows and 2 people siting in each row.

-Ride Capacity: 1,600 passengers per hour.

-Height Requirement: 48 inches tall

  • Open on May 13, 2000
  • Werner Stengel created the MF
  • Intamin manufactured it

  • World Records:

-Tallest roller coaster (310 feet)

-Fastest roller coaster (93 mph)

-Longest drop on a roller coaster (300 feet)

-Most roller coasters at one park (14)

-Most rides at one park (68)

-First roller coaster to top 300 feet

-Most steel roller coasters at one park (12)

-Most roller coaster track at one park (44,013 feet)

-First coaster to utilize elevator lift system

-Steepest non-inversion banked turn on a roller coaster (122 degrees)

  • Newton's second law:

When you push a cart you have to use a lot of amount of force on the cart for it to accelerate.

  • Newton's third law:

When you are jumping off a boat the reaction is that the boat will be pushed backwards.

  • The Millennium Force applies to circular force because it has banked turns.

  • Newton's first law applies to this roller coaster because the roller coaster will keep moving until it gets to the magnetic breaking system.

  • Newton's second law applies to the roller coaster because when you are on the banked turns, the coaster stays on the track.

  • Newton's third law uses the coaster because when it goes down the first hill it will stay accelerated.

  • Lift Hill, it has a elevator lift hill which means that it uses cables instead of a chain.

  • Energy Transference, when the coaster is at the top of the hill, it has the most potential energy, and when it goes down the hill it has the most kinetic energy.
