Mayella was the one who caused problems throughout the book and had an ugly life. She was the one who made Tom Robinson go to jail for rape even though he really didn't rape her. One of the most important conflicts in the book was when the trial happens.
S: Mayella does not speak often; but when she does she speaks shakily and unconfidently.

Mayella's first name doesn't mean anything, but her middle name does have a meaning which is Violet.
Violet stands for flower trying to bloom in the middle of a landfill. Even though she doesn't fit that metaphor she planted flowers because that's the only beautiful thing in her life.
