The greeks who told this myth believe in the valuable lesson of learning from others mistakes. Bellerophon, the hero, even makes the mistake of overstepping his boundaries and receives a punishment. Back then, they believed that the same thing could happen to them. Most likely, they used this myth to get the point across that it is not a could idea to overstep the boundaries that the gods have set or else they could receive a punishment.

Growing up
He started in Corinth which is a city and surrounding area in Greece.
He was raised by Glaucus who was mortal but later became immortal
He traveled to Argos(Lycia) which is southwestern Turkey.

The theme or message of this myth is to not push your luck and be grateful for what you have. Bellerophon had a great life ahead of him, but he try to become more powerful and visit Olympus. Not only did he not reach Olympus and became crippled, but also lost the respect he had from the Gods

First has to kill the Chimera.
The Chimera was a fire breathing monster with the head of a lion body of a goat and tail of a snake.

Second he had to fight the Solymi, a neighboring warrior tribe.
He falls off Pegasus and survives his fall but is crippled for the rest of his life
Third he had to fight the Amazons a group of warrior women.
