The three Gorges dam used a lot of hard materials. They used concrete to make a strong wall and a ceiling. Steel, to make a frame of the wall. The last material that was used is water cement, to make all the materials durable. If all the concrete was laid out, it would circle the earth 3 times.
The Three gorges dam is 4 times bigger than the hoover dam. Also the Three gorges dams height is 600 feet and the length was 1.24 miles. It took 24,000 workers and took years.

The three gorges dam caused a flood that wiped about a hundred twenty nine cities. A lot of people had to migrate to different cities and it was very hard.
In the first 5 years of the project (1992-1997) the construction workers started to build a cofferdam (a cofferdam is a space in a body of water that is dry and can be used for building in water). They also made a temporary ship lock for people to go through the water and build.
In the 2nd step of making
The dam, the workers
built more on to the
cofferdam, a permanent
ship lock and built a power
station to bring in the water
and turn it into energy. The last thing they built was a couple of navigation buildings to help people know where they are going.
The three gorges dam is the biggest dam in the world by far. It is also one of the most sophisticated hydro electric powered dams that have been built. The dam provides energy that doesn't cause pollution but has some flaws.
In the last step in the process the workers built all the machinery in the left and right bank, also continued on and finished the power station.
