People with Uner Tan Syndrome walk with a quadrupedal locomotion (walk on all fours) and are afflicted with "primitive" speech and severe mental retardation.
These people walk on all fours, they cannot talk normally, and their brains are not develop properly or function within the normal range.
Commonly found in certain groups
Many of the affected individuals lived in small Turkish villages near large cities.

Autosomal Recessive Transmission
Uner Tan Syndrome associated with intrafamilial (Occurring within a family) marriages. This syndrome may be regarded as a distinct ethnicity among non-progressive autosomal recessive cerebellar ataxias. (cerebellar ataxia is sudden, uncoordinated muscle movement due to disease or injury to the cerebellum in the brain)

Scientist think walking on all fours may be considered as a behavior trait resulting from self-organization. This is a response to the limited balance.
Detection
There is no way to detect if an infant has Uner Tan Syndrome. As a child gets older it becomes noticeable. They will not be able to speak, and they will walk on their hands and feet.
Treatment?
There isn't any medicine or clinical treatment to help with this syndrome. Simple exercises such as walking between parallel bars helps with their balance.
