A real marvel from Macedonian rivers. In its short path, Treska’s life is a wild one. Its first names were Elovechka River and and Belichka River. Shortly after that, the river was renamed into Big River, and afterwards into Great River. It got the name Treska in the village Zdunje, located in the city of Gostivar. Running through untouched mountainous areas of Porechie, the river forms very interesting landscapes.
Treska runs through the narrow canyon on top of which is located Lake Kozjak. Then, just before the entrance in the valley of Skopje, it forms the Lake Matka, where one can find the beautiful medieval Churches St. Andrej and St. Nikola Shishevski.

It runs through the town of Strumica and flows into the Struma river. A tribe called the Strumiani was named after this particular river.
