How was the dust bowl formed?

While the Dust Bowl was happening around 18,000 cotton workers went on strike. A lot of the residents went hungry and homeless. The farmers tried over and over to plant crops, but nothing would grow. The sky would darken for days at a time.

The dust bowl was so powerful it was choking cattle, and causing possibly thousands of residents in the Plains to die from all the dirt that had clogged their lungs . It also caused around 2.5 million people to move from the region. Almost 10 percent moved to California.

The soil was very dry and it was lacking a strong root system which allowed the winds to easily pick up the loose soil and form into dense dust clouds.
