Background Information For The Cay

Curacao, located off the coast of Venezuela, is a Caribbean Island.
It is part of the ABC islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao.
The People of Curacao
Because of its history. The island's population today comes from many different backgrounds. There is an Afro-Caribbean majority of mixed African and European descent. There are also sizable minorities of Dutch, Latin American, French, Portuguese and Asian.
At the end of 1942, the German U-boat
fleet had destroyed 280 tankers and other vessels in the Western and Eastern Caribbean.
So What's a "cay"?
What else might you need to know?
Although the Dutch settled Curacao, the culture is
more African and Caribbean.
Tambu, an ancient form of African music and dance
is performed at Carnival and cultural festivals.
For this reason Curacao and Aruba
and their resources became
prime targets for attack.
