Local Elected Officials select the Fiscal Agent / Sub-Grant Recipient
Workforce board members are selected and appointed by LEO’s based on their skills and expertise in business and their knowledge of workforce issues. The board’s members work in partnership with the LEOs to create and implement an area vision for workforce development .
Kentucky is responsible for establishing a state Workforce Development Board, appointing members, as well as, selecting a chairperson from the business community. The Governor is responsible for dispersing funding to each Workforce Area.
Local Workforce Areas,
as defined by interlocal agreements between Local Elected Officials, are officially established and recognized by the Governor.
Kentucky has ten Workforce Areas.
WIOA brings together, in strategic coordination, the core programs of Federal investment in skill development through:
Adult education and literacy programs and Vocational Rehabilitation state grant programs that assist individuals with disabilities in obtaining employment administered by the Department of Education (DoED).
WIOA is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy.
Employment and training services for adults, dislocated workers, and youth and Wagner-Peyser employment services administered by the Department of Labor (DOL) through formula grants to states.
