Frequency Tables and Data

Unit 7, Lesson 2

Vocabulary:

The 5th grade students of Myersville ES took a survey to determine their favorite foods.

Objective:

A survey is a question or questions used to collect information.

The information collect is called data.

Students will collect data and record data in frequency tables and line plots, interpreting the results.

You have learned how to show data in a line plot. Another method of showing data is the use of frequency charts.

We can illustrate the data in our frequency chart using a line plot.

When creating a survey, it is important to ask questions that will have a definite response.

Because our numbers are large, let's use a key and make each "x" equal 2 students.
