She believed that men and women should have equal rights. She worked for the right of women to vote, called 'suffrage'.

She was born in Portland, Victoria in April 1869 and was the oldest of five children. She passed away from cancer in 1949. From a young age her parents encouraged her to become independent, strong and free. Her mother was a feminist and her father was an anti-suffragist.

Vida was an early Australian politician who campaigned for women's suffrage and social reform.

Vida operated a primary school, founded the monthly publication Women's Sphere, launched the weekly article that was called The Women's Voter, and was one of the first members of the National Council of Women. Vida was a very strong leading advocate for women's rights.

Because of Vida Goldstein, women have the right to have an education, career and most importantly freedom.
