I Can...

I can introduce a topic or text, state an opinion, and organize my reasons in a clear way that supports my purpose.

Write a letter to the editor of the Baltimore Sun on the current issue of water bottles. In your letter you must explain and defend a point of view on the topic using reasons and evidence to support your view from the articles and the video.

Part A

After reading and taking notes on the topic of bottled water, we are going to highlight the similarities in the points of view on the issue using reasons and evidence.

Today we will work independently on a task to apply what we have been learning in the last few lessons.

  • We have been reading informational texts that present opposing viewpoints on a topic.

Keep in mind: We as readers look for the points of view on the issue and then identify reasons and evidence used to support each point of view.
