Exposition
Pocahontas is the daughter of a chief in the Americas in the early 1600s. Her father wants her to marry a man named Coco-um, but Pocahontas does not believe this is the path she should take. When she goes to see her grandmother willow for advice, she sees "strange clouds" which turn out to be the sails of a European ship. Pocahontas and her people want to know who is coming, and what intend to do.
