Tips for the prep time:

  • Motion: the subject of the debate
  • 2 sides: proposition and opposition
  • content, structure,style
  • speakers take turns speaking
  • 6x8 and 2x4 minute speeches
  • POIs
  • You will be given 30 minutes
  • Collect arguments separately first
  • Talk them through -->3-4 main arguments
  • Definition, policies etc
  • you don’t get to choose which side you represent
  • there are prepared and impromptu motions
