Some of the work I have done:

· I was a young leader at a Brownie group for 5 years

· I was part of a team that ran a primary school age youth group for 2 years

· I am currently part of a leadership team that take a secondary school age youth group

· I am part of the leadership team that run an SU ski trip to Austria

· I am a volunteer at an alcohol – free youth night club in Ayr

I graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a degree in Interactive Media Creation. This course allowed me to experience a range of different design areas including graphic design, website design and interface design. I have also been able to work with several forms of multimedia in creating animations and videos.

I have learned that I can work well on my own and after working on different group projects throughout my time at university I know that I work well as part of a team as well. These projects were a very beneficial learning experience and showed me what a working environment might be like in the design industry.

I would be happy to work in any area of the design industry as I am sure that there are many things that I have never tried or that I am only slightly familiar with and it would all be valuable experience. I would love to learn new things and expand my knowledge of the areas that I already have experience in.

Sales Assistant – Stems and Gems, Saltcoats. (2004 – Present)

Stems and Gems is a florist and gift shop in Saltcoats. I have worked there since the summer of 2005 when the shop opened, working mostly on Saturdays but also doing extra work during the holidays. My main responsibilities are serving customers in the shop, taking flower orders both in the shop and over the phone and doing a little bit of flower arranging.

Working at Stems and Gems has improved my communication, team work and problem solving skills and also allows me to use my creative side.

Sales Assistant (Christmas Temp) – Topshop, Kilmarnock (Nov 09 – Jan 10)

My job in Topshop allowed me to experience working in a different work environment. It meant working with new people but also with a different type of merchandise which created new responsibilities. I learned how to work with a team of people that I didn’t know and I also managed to build up my confidence and communication skills while working there.

Administrator/Event Organiser - The Ark, Ayr (August 2011-Present)

Work Placement - Tesco Bank, Glasgow/Edinburgh (Jan 2012 - March 2012)

Employment

Introduction

My name is Gillian and I would like to welcome you to my web site.

Hopefully you will be able to learn a bit more about me by looking around my site and checking out some of my work.

So, thank you and enjoy!

I am 22 years old and I am from Kilwinning, Ayrshire.

I have almost 8 years part time shop experience dealing with customers, phone calls and cash registers. I also have over 400 certificated hours of voluntary work with young people. As a result I have learned to work as part of a team and also build up my confidence as an individual.

Some of the voluntary work I have done has also improved my skills. I really enjoy working with people, but particularly with young people as I feel that I can encourage them and build them up by speaking to them, spending time with them and sharing my own experiences.
